Does it bleed out a lot when you perforate your eardrum?

I used to clean my ears with Q-tips (I didn't know you weren't supposed to, but now I do) and for some reason I can't hear very well from my left ear. (It wasn't always this way, actually it started once when i was cleaning my ear with a q-tip) I thought maybe it could be wax buildup, so I bought some eardrops for that. The directions say to place 5-10 drops in the ear 2 times a day for up to 4 days and then remove any remaining wax with warm water. I did all of this, and yet I feel just as deaf as I was before.

Could I have punctured my eardrum a while ago and not noticed? What can I do to fix my hearing?

My right ear is just fine, and I've basically done to it the same things I've done to the left ear

I have never felt pain on my ear, or had any bleeding or fluids coming out of my ear.

I have had two broken eardrums before caused by congestion and an infection. Both times, I was in intense pain before they broke -- so intense that I felt dizzy and was brought to tears, despite having a high pain threshold. I laid down on my bed to try to sleep, thinking that I might feel better when I awoke. Somehow, I managed to fall asleep and when I awoke, I was in absolutely no pain. In fact, I felt so good I wondered if I'd imagined it all. When I sat up in bed though, clear fluid, like water, ran out of my ears and down my neck. My eardrums had ruptured in my sleep. I could barely hear anything for the next 4-5 months. I could listen to TV, but I had to have the volume all the way up. I couldn't talk on the phone or in any situation where I couldn't watch the mouth of the person who was talking. The doctors said it would take time to heal and it took about 4-5 months. Gradually, I got used to being deaf. One night though, I was taking a bubble bath and reading when all of a sudden, for an instant, my ears opened and I could hear. The sound of the water in the tub was sooooo loud, but it was wonderful! I knew then that I was going to be okay. Over the next few weeks, my hearing gradually returned. That was about 15 years ago. My hearing is okay now, but whenever I get a cold, I feel it in my ears first with the pressure and pain. If you're still feeling like this tomorrow morning, call your doctor. If your ear drum is broken, there is nothing that can be done for it. It just has to heal on its own.

It will not be your tympanic membrane that is itchy but the ear canal much further down that you can't reach, you need this checking out, you could permanently damage your ear drum if you damage it and you will be in a great deal of pain as well as susceptible to infection, don't put anything in your ear especially chemicals as this may burn, itching is preferable to pain surely but go see your doctor, you could have steroid ear drops to alleviate the itching!! Take care
