Most electronics will work fine if accidently washed, it just has to be fully dried before used again. One of my instructors even suggested putting your dirty keyboard in the dish washer. I have yet to try it.

I've experience a similar problem in the past. Try a different computer to see if the contents can be read on a different machine. If so, try copying it to another properly partion flash drive. Do not reformat the original flash drive. Their is also free shareware that can sometimes recover the files minus the damaged files.

It was washed then dried. Most electronics, without moving parts like buttons or what ever......if it is a solid state and is completely dried, you should have no issues with using it. I am surprised it survived the heat of the drier.
What causes most electronics to fail after getting wet is having power applied before it is dried. This causes sensitive circuits to short out and fry.
I would back up the drive as it may fail without notice and leave your data in ether!

your lucky it must be sealed pretty tight. The waters not the only thing it had to deal with, it took quite a beating. I would not store anything on it that you don't have somewhere else. Its not a good idea to do that with good working ones either.
You probably shortened the life of the drive, check to see if you computer reads the full 512mb or if you damaged it.

Mine went through the washer too about 4 months ago. Worked well after I left it to dry thoroughly. Still works up to now.

You're lucky
it is fairly normal with most electronics to still work after they get wet
but you must be COMPLETLY certain that they are 100% dry before plugging them in
if electricity goes through teh circuts with water still in there, it could very easily fry the electronic, your lucky yours was dry when you plugged it in!
