Natalie Maines, the lead singer of the DIxie Chicks, made a comment that she was ashamed to be from the same state as our current President. The other Chicks backed her. This offended a lot of super conservative Republicans, which make up the majority of the listening base for country music. It got the Chicks into the Democrats good side, and their music into popular (Top 40) radio, not just country radio. Many country stations quit playing the Chicks after the comment.

Its referring to previous comments that the dixie chicks made about bush when america was still going through the "support the troops" phase and supporting the war in iraq. Now that people are realizing more and more that Bush is an idiot, people are supporting the dixie chicks a lot more, so they put this song on their new album.

the singer got in a lot of trouble for something she said at a concert in England when the war in Iraq started like
I'm ashamed to be from Texas the same state as George Bush,
"im not ready to make nice " is kind of a message that she is not sorry she said it
