Here is an old one:
Elementary school can be a zoo at times.
Extended metaphor?
The principal is the ring master.
The front office staff the are carnies.
"Specials" (P.E., music, art, etc.) are the freak shows.
Kindergarten students is the petting zoo.
Fifth graders are the beasts of burden.
You get the idea.
