Being ugly would definately put one at a disadvantage. Getting a mate (partner) would be harder. Landing a job is easier for good looking folks (I've seen studies showing this to be true). People in general are nicer to those they find attractive. The world is sweeter for beautiful people. That's just the way it is.

The definition of disability is "a disadvantage or deficiency, especially a physical or mental impairment that interferes with or prevents normal achievement in a particular area."

If you believe it interferes with your life, technically, it's a disability. However, it could make you a stronger person which would be the opposite of a disability. Another thing to add is that many people are superficial, only liking people because they look good. However, if you are not the best looking person, and someone likes you, he/she likes you for you, not your looks that would have faded anyway as you got older.

But then again, it could hinder certain advancements in the workplace (which is discriminatory mind you, and you could sue) since sometimes promotions are given to people who look good, for that reason alone, just like how many people (unfortunately) give good looking candidates their vote without researching their platform.

Basically, it is all about how you yourself look at it. You could look at it either way. The glass could be half full or half empty . . . you decide.

Yes and no. One thing depends on your own definition of "ugly." If you're overweight, there's something you can do about that. If you're not clean or don't keep yourself well-groomed, you can change that. These things are generally considered unattractive to people, and if you're not doing the very least that you can to make yourself more appealing to people, you're only disabling yourself.

All of those things being at a good level, your actually physical characteristics really don't make much of a difference in your life, whether it be with women, in business, or social situations in general. If you can make people laugh and make them feel good in general when you're around them, it'll make them want to be around you more, regardless of how you look. Has every successful businessperson you've seen in your life been what you would consider "eye candy?" Haven't you ever seen a guy with a woman who looked like she was way out of his league? These guys aren't "lucky," and they didn't trick her into being with them. As long as you can make people feel good when they're around you, they'll be attracted to you.

Oh, and you can't be insecure about yourself, either. If you ask someone what they think of how ugly you are, you probably won't be giving off a very good vibe.

No, I think not. Since you stopped me from my favorite line, " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", I will have to say that being ugly to yourself will make you ugly to other people. "Ugly" is a state of mind...Not a fashion statement!!!

its not a disability, but in todays society it is a severe disadvantage. while being ugly does hinder the progress of the person sometimes, most of the time it is not a big issue.

Yes in many instances it is a disability. An ugly person is treated differently in most situations. It is sad, but true.

maybe not special parking space worthy, but yeah, you can do more when you are easier on the eyes. Nobody wants someone ugly to work with people at their store, or to represent something or to endorse something either.
