I already served, US Navy, 92-98
My wife served, US Navy, 95-98
Our two daughters are too young to join. But I wouldn't stop them if they chose to sign up to serve their country.
Of course, I don't agree with this Iraq war at all...but you are going to get plenty of people who say something like "gotta fight the terrorists over there, or else they will be setting off bombs in America".
It's ridiculous. People don't have a clue.

Nothing I say is going to matter to you, but here goes.
You will not see a war with Iran unless Iran starts it. You will see much saber rattling (from both sides) and a lot of hot air, but no military action without an overt act by Iran. They are already sending men and materiel into Iraq for use against American troops (and don't believe for a second that it is private Iranian citizens doing it on their own). This can be seen as a provocation, but instead of action, we went to the ineffectual UN so they can play their games with it for the next decade. Honestly, I don't see Iran picking a fight with the US(even with us as stretched as we are). I see them biding their time and hitting Israel when the opportunity presents itself.
I'm already a volunteer. I've served 7 tours in the Middle East since 1991 and I'm in line for my next one. I still think its better to fight them over there than to clean up the bodies and debris over here.
Actually, Iran was the greater threat all along. We should have popped them back in the seventies when they took the hostages. Iran is the motivating force (along with Saudi Arabia) behind most of the terrorism in the world. That's kind of odd since Iran is Shi'ite and Saudi is Sunni. They can't seem to agree on anything beyond killing Westerners. In addition to sponsoring terror, now they have nukes (don't believe a word of their crap about electrical power, either). All this is simply to show that Iran is the big bad guy, not a justification for invasion. That won't happen unless Iran attacks us or Israel (or another of our allies). You can call it Bush's war all you want. I could give you 5000 good reasons for going in, but it would be a waste of time. Nothing I say will change your mind on that. Did you know WW2 was commonly called Mr. Roosevelt's war? (since people thought he knew the Japanese were coming before Pearl Harbor was attacked and didn't inform the military)

First, you don't know what you're talking about. Second, they DID find evidence of WMD's in Iraq, which suggested that they had been there. If I told you I were coming to your house later in the week to see if you had any illegal substances in your house and you didn't want to waste them by flushing them, wouldn't you give it to a buddy to hold for you until I was gone? Don't you think Saddam was at least that smart? Further, there were several other violations of the UN sanctions for the end of the first war there that we could have gone in about long before we did. WMDs was more of a "last straw" thing. Finally, no military personnel in Iraq on anywhere else was "volunteered" by their parents. They are adults and they volunteered themselves. Would you take their choice away? Would you rather have a draft? My son is far too young to consider it, but if he decides when he is old enough that he would like to join the military, like his three uncles, I will not stand in his way.

My family has a proud tradition with the American military, going almost all the way back to the Revolutionary War. We've done our share in Iraq, and will continue to do our share.
While I realize there are differing opinions, most of the people I've talked to who have served in Iraq believe in what we are doing over there and can't understand why our media only reports the bad news. I live in a major military community and we just had thousands of army and airmen return, plus I've talked to family members who have been there. No offense, but I'm going to take *their* word over anyone else's.

I served 3 years with the 82d Airborne Division, 1970-1973. Too old to volunteer again. My son has completed 2 tours of Iraq with the 82d Airborne Division already. I don't have to send him. He goes where he is ordered.
Soldiers can't pick their wars. They can only do their job, serve with honor, and try to survive.

OK. I wont tell you you don't know what you're talking about but I will say you are a bit slow. You're trying to do independent thinking on your own and you're not very good at it. To get the answers to your questions you need to learn how to think. Try listening to people who think for a living and are good at it. Rush is one, or Sean. They really do have good prospective on issues. Listen and learn grasshopper.

I actually haven't seen anything about Bush doing this. I see much more saber rattling being done by the Brittish....
You know... the guys who's troops Iran currently is holding.
Your first problem was reading conspiracy books. Nothing good can come from filling your mind with that trash.

I don't get it. How can the President be such an idiot and at the same time manipulate the actions of foreign leaders. He tricked Saddam into ignoring UN resolutions for 12 years (before he even took office) and now he has the leaders of Iran building nuclear weapons and capturing British soldiers. How does an idiot accomplish this.

I didn't know we had a shortage of soldiers. Perhaps you should stop watching MSM. If they need me, I will definitely sign up. But we don't need more soldiers to crush all the adversaries you named.
Conservatives protect defenseless fetuses
Liberals say they are for protecting soldiers with guns
