So i just watched the Departed, on EVERYONE's recommendation, and I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED! It was entertaining, don't get me wrong, but not a cinematic masterpiece. The twists?!?!? WHAT TWISTS?!? Everything was so blatant.
Did anyone else think this movie was so predictable? And just an all around bad movie??

I thought Jack Nicholson recycled one of several former performances - really good performances of course, but .. seen it before! I thought DiCaprio did a really fine job (and I am seriously NOT a DiCaprio fan). I think Matt Damon was simply amazing, I think he had the best performance in the movie.
That said, I really thought the movie was terrible. None of the other actors seemed to do more than 'phone in' their dialog. I thought the plot was ridiculous, the writing was unbelievable and the direction was pointless.
In short, (too late) it was terrible.

I agree, it was entertaining but not the best movie I have ever seen. I was disappointed in the ending, it was too final. There was a lot of hype, I can't believe it won best movie Oscar. Leo DiCaprio was impressive but much better in blood diamond.

"The Departed" is the best cops and robbers movie ever. I know when I watch movies some time after they're released and after hearing all the hype, I find them disappointing. For example, I thought "Borat" was a piece of crap.

No it wasn't predictable I don't think people predicted what was going happen at the end that was a bit of a shocker. Very good movie.

I enjoyed the movie but I think watching it after all they hype kinda takes away from it

you should watch the Infernal affairs I, II & III. its a Hong Kong movie which the departed is based from. much better!..

I began to watch it, but didnt make it past when Damon and Decaprio go into that office to be interviewed? Too much swearing, seemed stupid so i never finished.

neither. it's a great movie but not the best ever. i really enjoyed it.
