The media is extremely efficient, careless, and biased today. Anyone and everyone is a reporter. Blogs can be amended in minutes from anywhere in the world. News outlets are run by politically motivated individuals. People, in general, have no attention span or interest in politics. They believe whatever sound bite the news decides to run. This election is going to be Youtube driven. You will see hundreds of videos pop up that will have an influence on American voters. The recent anti-Hillary ads are an example of that.

Politicians would use trains to travel across the country, making speeches and kissing babies where ever they stopped.

There were also various places that the candidates would meet, to debate their particular platforms.

There was no television, and no radio; people relied upon the news services and word of mouth.

These days, politicians strategically plot out certain spots to make appearances; they will not hit places where they would not receive a favorable reception.

Further, debates are limited to television appearances; with certain ground rules agreed upon by the stipulation of the various candidates.

Politicians in the old days had to be real studs; politicians these days are pansies, by comparison.
