Husbands b-day is coming up, I would like to surprise him. We took a very long drive through there today and it was beautiful! We live about 5 hours away from there.

We just watched a special on some of the Great Lakes lighthouses, and several of them have been converted into B&Bs. They look like really lovely places to stay, and quite romantic as well. Check these out:

This one is in Michigan, but one of the ones featured in the special:

Not a lighthouse, but it looks cute!

I live in Minnesota and travel U.S. 2 home to my parents in Michigan...While I like Superior for what it offers as far as shopping and more dining options and the proximity to Duluth, I have to admit the town I would love to daytrip or spend the weekend exploring is Ashland....I know there is a romantic hotel right on the Lake (Superior). Chequamegon Hotel. www.hotelc.com. There are also affordable motels like the Americinn too....and I think the Ashland area mails out a free travel guide.

I don't remember the name of the place, but there's a nice hotel on Hwy 2.
