Father and Daughter - Paul Simon. It's from The Wild Thornberrys Movie - and the main character is seperated from her father. It's kind of "I'm always with you" sort of song, and very beutiful.

Not that this is direct relation to your question but the song "My Father" by Judy Collins is a great song about forgiveness and loving memories of her father.
I first heard the song as done by the group: This Mortal Coil, I prefer this version.
It might soften things up a bit.
