Just to put to rest the inaccuracies that people have about rednecks. . . I live in a small country Ohio town. Population around 400. My truck has a sticker in the front window that says redneck woman. We rednecks live differently than city people in the following ways. . .we don't go to clubs, we go to bars (mostly because there are no clubs around here), we don't have to lock our doors at night to either our houses or our vehicles (on more than one occasion I've actually left my truck unlocked w/ the keys in it w/ my purse sitting on the front seat). We go four-wheeling, muddin', and have bonfires on Saturday nights. We listen to country music (not all of us b/c I actually like R&B also). We are friendly to people we don't even know. We don't live with our parents. . .I have my own apartment and I'm in the process of building the house of my dreams. We drink beer and whiskey (not really big on fancy drinks). We get into fist fights over stupid sh!t. We have a seriously lower crime rate than all major cities. I can honestly tell you we have never had drive-by shootings, gang wars, or anything of the such. We are educated (I'm working on my master's). We aren't as back woods as everyone seems to think. To tell you the truth, I love where I live. Its a great place to raise kids and as everyone knows. . .there's no place like home.

Most people who you would call "rednecks" do not live in a city, and are usually not very well educated. This makes them seem naive or dumb. That is not necessarily true, it is just a generalization or assumption. But that is the perception, especially if the person has a "hillbilly" accent. They are no better or worse than city folks, they just have a different background.

I am a country gal...maybe not a REDNECK but many of you that live in the city would be shell shocked to be here. I love it. And anyone who hasn't had the privilege to live out in the boondocks...don't knock it until you have been here.
I moved here 10 yrs ago from the city and I will never go back. LOVE IT.
Plus we "rednecks" could stomp a mudhole in your behind ;)

To maximum of city us of a, you're a lutefisk-sucking Canadian for all they comprehend! however the rustic human beings have larger hearts than that. "Redneck" purely ability residing in a rural city or on a ranch, and believing that's the ideal way of life.

Differently but just as well as you, for the most part. I'd sooner be a "redneck" and looked down upon by people like you, than BE a person like you, and think my education and "refinement" somehow makes me a higher lifeform than someone who chooses a simpler life.

we don't have to lock our doors..
no drive by shootings
we can grow our own
we are humble
we greet each other in passing
we can survive off just the land
we have grass to mow
we can walk around naked outside if we choose to
we can let our children play outside without constant supervision
we will stop and give someone who is broken down on the side of the road a helping hand

I dunno know.....let's ask Jeff Foxworthy....he's a redneck millionaire.
As for me, I get up, work my tail off all day, fall asleep after I have tucked all the babies in, fall asleep in my lovers arms, and start all over again tomorrow.
You?
