I used to joke with my mom that I was born into the wrong family. I used to look at my parents & siblings & say "please tell me I was adopted!" I was the only redhead & in many ways felt like I didn't fit in. I liked to fantasize about how life would be if I'd been born into a wealthy family living in a mansion on a hill overlooking the water. Or maybe a castle. Maybe in Europe rather than North America...A family that would be glamorous & yet very loving and supportive. Parents that could afford to put me into ballet, piano & singing lessons. Parents that would encourage me to take risks & go after my dreams (rather than try to limit me & be fearful of everything). I thought how great it would be if I'd been given support & opportunities to pursue my dreams early on...but the truth is I belong in my family. I can see myself in my Mom & sister, I appreciate my family. Even my brothers though they drove me nuts as kids. They weren't perfect but they did the best they could. My family may not have had money but we had love. It's never too late to go after my dreams (well, ok it is too late for ballet. You have to start when you're 4 years old oh well). I wouldn't trade my family for the world. I had some wonderful memories with them & they've helped to make me the person I am today.

That's not possible. "You" would not exist without your family. Your genetics, your personality were all created because of the environment your family put you in. You would not be you without them, and like it or not that's how it's required. You would not be yourself if it weren't for them, and that's what is truly needed to be understood about this type of situational question. If "you" were born in another family or in another place, you would not have progressed and learned to be the person you are today, right now.

Yes I have. For many years I thought perhaps I was an alien because I thought so differently from everyone else I knew.

Since that time I have moved into different circles - circles where we have a lot in common and understand from similar criteria - spiritual and humility centred.

Most kids feel this way. This natural feeling has been used in novels from Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, to JK Rowlings' Harry Potter, and I wish they would stop, it is getting to be an overused theme.

I feel like I was meant to stay in Texas but in an older time.

Nope, I never feel that way now, although I might have felt that way as a young whipper snapper.

Oh yeah. All the time. When I was a kid, I used to PRAY I'd be told I was adopted.

Unfortunately -- I wasn't.
