I never understood that either...I can't remember crap so It doesn't apply to me..I think I was dropped on my head as a baby!!

I think it's a way to follow a time line, like people who remember events around the birth of their children...."Bobby had just turned 2 when that happened" or "I had just had my second child when we heard the news".

Good question. I never thought of it that way. It's because the death made the moment memorable. Don't you remember where you were when something memorable has happened in your own life?
