What is it that they aren't telling their minions?

Could it be that they understand that we are a country of laws and that hysterical partisanship does not constitute evidence?

That was a beautifully written question. I suspect the problem is that Bush needs to break a law to be impeached and much as they hate the guy, he hasn't and those in the law know this.

Because impeachment (indictment) is only the first half of the process.

Once the House impeaches, then the case is tried in the Senate. And there is no possible way, in the current political climate, that the Senate will vote 2/3 to convict. It doesn't matter how much evidence there is to prove the point.

So, why waste the time if it's not going to accomplish anything in the end except to make many people on both sides angry.

And we stopped being a nation of laws when Bush became able to violate federal law at will with no consequences.

He has publicly repeated and proudly admitted to willful violation of federal laws. His lawyers have stipulated to it in federal court. And it's been confirmed by the US Supreme Court. Those are facts that cannot be rationally argued.

Bush just doesn't care because thinks he's above the law, and he's manipulated the system so that he cannot be held accountable for his criminal acts. But we're not a nation of laws as long as our elected officials can ignore then at will.

It is not fitting for Republicans to use the phrase "hysterical partisanship" unless they want to choke to death on the hypocrisy of it.

it could be the fact they know they cant get two thirds of the senate to vote him out, and it would put the country on gridlock. they could want to not do the same stupid stufff the republicans did to clinton.
