i think the results will be the same if they don't get a better OL.

The answer is plain and simple. They didn't change QB's because they thought a new one would do any better. They changed QB's because they are a horrible team with malcontent fans, and the owners, who refuse to actually try to upgrade the team, decided it was a lot cheaper to make Carr a scapegoat and blame everything on him. I am sure in 5 years when Schaub is battered and beat to death, they will cut him as a scapegoat too.

Of all the questions on Yahoo! Answers, this is probably the easiest to answer:

THE TEXANS ARE STUPD AND POOR EVALUATORS OF TALENT!

Lets review, shall we. The Texans make David Carr, strong armed efficent QB from Fresno State, their first draft pick ever. What do they do to him? Put a bunch of special team offensive lineman and castaways in front of him to block for him. The end result? He spent more time on his back than a Houston "lady of the evening". They "build" their defense to a point where it is slightly above mediocre. So far they cant block or defend that well. Anybody sensing a theme yet? Then comes DraftGate, 2006's NFL Draft, where they made the mistake on passing up Vince Young or Reggie Bush to draft Mario Williams, who wowed us with his 3 sacks. Even with offensive minded head coach Gary Kubiak, the offense sucked. Why? NO OFFENSIVE LINEMEN!! At least Vince Young could have ran from the bullrushing ends and blitzing linebackers. The slow-footed Carr was a lamb lead to the slaughter behind that line. Schaub has a little better mobility, and for his sake he better hope some of Vick's speed rubbed off on him, because he's gonna have to run for his life. Perhaps the Texans should have tried to trade for Vick. At least he could outrun everybody with his 4.4 speed. With that line of misfits, they couldnt be successful with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or even Joe Montana. Bottom line, new QB, same line, SAME RESULTS!

Very True Schaub will turn into the next Joey Harrington (or David Carr lol). They bad line will get him sacked- even more than Carr since he is slower than Carr. Green will keep fumbling and their offense will get worse... however their defense is getting solid. However... they could turn it around and try and draft some good OL or trade for them since theres not much left on the free agent market. I feel bad for Schaub... oh yeah... expect for the fact that hes a millionaire and rich... Carr should be like Ryan Leaf... TAKE HIS MONEY AND RUN... he has nothing to prove and is rich and still has his health. He could make a somewhat decent starter somewhere else but he has a family and doesn't need any more sacks.

Based on the choice the result will be the same. If they don't get a better line they will still be terrible. They needed a new QB, but not this way. They gave Carr a big contract and acted so confident then suddenly kick him to the curb.

i'm a texans fan (in Houston) so I'll assume I know more about this team compared to those other posts out there.
The O-Line, though below average, is full of potential. Eric Winston and Charles Spencer are developing talent at OT. Furthermore, Ephraim Salaam and Jordan Black are legit back-ups. Then, we have Chester Pitts, arguably our best lineman, and he's not bad. Then there's McKinney and Flanagan, who are great veterans.

The problem resided in Carr. The early years, for sure, were harsh on him. Last year though, he really messed it up: he made our o-line look much worse than it really is. He makes poor reads, accuracy is poor, and couldn't sense pressure. Matt Schaub, on the other hand, has not experienced what David Carr had to go through, has great composure in the pocket, and I heard some great things about him on NFL Network and Fox, which are way more legit than ESPN talk on the Texans.

I totally agree with you, unless they improve the OL, Texans will be right in same place as last year. Of course, we wouldn't be talking about this if they drafted Bush or Young

Simple NFL rule- "when things go wrong blame the QB". It always happens that way. I agree though, I just read somewhere that over a 5 year period this man was sacked 249 times. 249 sacks how is that Carr's fault. What do they want him to do with that kind of protection, turn into Michael Vick and run everydown. We see how far that got Falcons this year.

No QB can throw while on his backside.A new QB would be better though if like you say they got a new OL.

I have no idea. They can have Unitas, Favre & Montana all wrapped up into one, but with that O Line, they would be in the same place as Carr.
