Are the parts on the edge of the lawn, or in the center? If the water is not missing by much, you can change nozzles if the heads have interchangeable nozzles. If that is not possible, you need to find out what pressure you have and how many GPM's the zones put out. To find out how many GPM's, go to the website of the manufacturer of the heads you have, you will need to know the nozzle size (it will be on the nozzle) and your pressure. It is usually the name of the company.com. Then with the pressure and water source pipe size, you can figure out how many GPM's you can get.you need to find out how many gallons you can use (what is really available). I would not tee off with funny pipe, it is only 3/8" not 1/2", and do not run extensive distances with funny pipe, the pressure reduction will be drastic. The heads will not perform to their full potential unless they are low flowing heads. If you can tap off the zones, dig up by a head, cut the pipe and put a tee in to come off of. You will have to dig a trench for the new line and head, so choose one close to where you need the new one. Try to keep the GPM's and # of heads below the maximum for the zones. It will perform and water more uniformly. The rule is water can travel at 5 feet/second, without causing water hammer. You can go over that without a problem (usually). Also, the manufacturers websites should have the charts you will need to figure this out.

you may find that you will not be able to add more heads to current installed pipes, as you need a specific amount of water pressure for each sprinkler head. the best thing to do is fill a bucket and time how long it takes. (from the tap that the sprinklers are connected to) you then need to count the sprinklers you have and then go to the garden shop and discuss what would work best in your yard. IT SHOULD BE RATHER EASY TO INSTALL NEW SPRINKLERS ONCE YOU FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED.

its hard to know if you can add heads without knowing your pressure. MOST systems are designed with pressure to spare. before you add heads make sure the other heads have the proper nozzle size you might be able to replace a 10 full with say a 15 or 18 full and achieve your goal. if not go to your local supply house and get a roll of funny pipe(1/2 flexible pipe) and 1/2 inch threaded barb connectors. remove a head and screw a connector in its place. attach a small piece of funny pipe to the barb and put a barb tee on the end of that. add a small piece of pipe to one side of the barb and another connector and put your head back on that connector. the other side of the tee gets the long piece of funny pipe that leads to your new head. attach a threaded 90 degree barb and attach your new head to that. then bury all. if you need to add more than one just throw another barb tee in

It shouldn't be real expensive and can be done by yourself quite easily. Just ask your hardware salesman and he will give you all the information you need.
