I got a degree in journalism, worked at several jobs in that, until I had kids. Newspaper reporter hours are just too crazy when you are a mom. But that degree qualified me for quite a few things that I didn't think about while I was in school. I got a job as "quality assurance manager" for proofreading jet aircraft engine maintenance manuals, and in Ohio if you have any four-year degree you can be a substitute teacher, which I'm now doing. It's a perfect part-time job when you have kids.
