I'm writing a research paper about Reagan's concept/idea of democracy and I need couple of points to talk about. So far I have: 1. He was against communism. 2. He cut taxes, and believed the government should have a little involvement in ecnomony/businesses, etc... I'll give the 10 points to whoever give me good points to talk about. Note: It must be about democracy.

The classic example of Reagan understanding the true meaning of democracy would probably be his response to the knowledge that his pet Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 was most likely going down to defeat, he appealed to the voters to call and write their congressman. Congressmen and staffers were so overwhelmed with calls and letters over the next few days, they had no choice but to pass it.

Reagan believed in trickle down economics. He increased the size of the government by an astonishing rate. He spent US tax dollars like a drunken sailor. He was anti-union and opened the gateway for US corporations to leave the country for cheap labor. He gave amnesty to 3 million illegal immigrants.

His policies resulted in mass inflation, a very weak US dollar, nationwide poverty, and the introduction of street gang warfare do to the increased drug use that people turned to to escape the hopelessness that abounded.

A full blown recession occurred. Families began falling apart by the thousands. The unwed birthrate skyrocketed. The violent crime rate soared to new heights. Lastly , a new drug named crack was introduced to the American populace. This is the true legacy of Ronald Reagan. May he rot forever more.
