Try using a device the absorbs shock, such as using rubber bands to absorb the force of the impact.

I was assigned that project a few years ago and there were many people who chose to use parachutes to save their little egg from a scrambled doom.

My strategy?

I used a fishing pole and lowered my egg to safety. *Snerk*

A triangle is the strongest shape. If you can make some kind of container that is triangle shaped and then wrap your egg in batting, you'll have a strong container.
