I tried everything from laying down, bath and shower I found the most comfortable pos. for me was sitting on the toilet because of the way the seat was shaped I had absolutely no pressure pushing down there. When I told them I wasn't going to get off the toilet they went and got me a birthing stool with the same sort of seat. It's amazing what they will do when you start swearing at them.:)

Wow I definitely dont think it will be easier, quicker or less painful. You would be working extra hard by doing this if you ask me. Sorry I havent done this but I have given birth before and let me tell you, when its time, you will try any position that can ease the baby out.

I tried it with my son, along with lots of other positions. It is more comfortable than lying on your back (which is proven to be the least effective and most painful position to give birth in). My problem was a shooting pain in my leg not associated with the position. If found I needed something to support myself with so I grabbed the door knobs on both sides of the door. It allowed me to stand or squat as needed. I changed positions after a few contractions because of the leg pain.

When I shared with my grandmother about the experience she had a good laugh. Seems she gave birth to one of my aunts that way!

Here is a list with some links to different positions for labor and birth, with the benefits of each to help you make decisions.

Makes gravity work FOR you and not against you. Try a variety of positions and use whatever works best for you...and DON"T let the docs try to talk you out of it unless for a very good reason...

I think this is a native american indian tradition,
I don't recommend it. Lying in a prone position
is best on you and the baby.

Sorry, can't help you there. Talk to your doctor.
