also note: the speakers sort of take turns doing this; sometimes its the sub, sometimes the front one(s)

***PROBLEM SOLVED!!!***

After I posted I was messing with my settings, because I noticed it was more likely to do it in Media Player, so it got me thinking...Media Player equalizer working with Creative Sounds equalizer MIGHT be a problem? So i turned one off, and a little improvement...sorry, make a long story short: had the system volume maxed out, so i turned it down to about 70%, and now there is no distortion no matter how loud I turn the speakers up..

Going to leave this problem posted in case this helps anybody. Thank you for your replies

I have a cheap plug going into my sub that somtimes gets rattled loose by the bass causing hissing....check that the connections are all properly inserted.....

Also, check the mic volume, if I dont mute my microphone, "even if a mic isnt plugged in", I get allot of odd sounds playing through the speakers....
