I dont know nothing about music but i want to get a guitar and bass for someone. They listen to rock/metal.

you should get them either/or. why are you buying both.

Is money a stumbling block? I would suggest checking out www.carvin.com; all the guitars and basses can be customised to your (or their) liking and aren't outrageously expensive.

well gibsons are one of the top of the lines.
i recommend gibson les pauls.
also, schecters are quite good too. a schecter tempest is an awsome guitar ( i have one).

for bass, fender is definately the way to go. not squire. but fender. schecter basses are also good.
