It is cultural. Some claim it is genetic but the fact that gays don't usually have children would have gradually taken that gene out of our genome. If you look at ancient Sparta the soldiers would all have gay sex to bond before battle and I doubt they all happened to be born that way. Massachusetts is another good example. I knew a guy would was made fun of in high school and called a prude there, because he had never fooled around with a guy. The whole college lesbian hookup culture is another example. Culture has a strong influence so although I think its disgusting who knows maybe if I was born in Massachusetts or ancient Greece I would think different.

Embryonic temperature determines adult sexuality in a reptile........In the leopard gecko (Eublephans macularius), gonadal and morphological sex is determined by incubation temperature, with relatively 'hot' temperatures (32 °C) resulting in mostly male offspring and relatively 'cold' temperatures (26 °C) resulting in only female offspring4,5. We report here that the reproductive behaviour and endocrine physiology of an adult is influenced by the temperature experienced as an embryo. Also, the perception of a female to courtship by a male is influenced by incubation temperature. These data indicate that incubation temperature, the primary determiner of sex in this species, has differential effects on adult sexuality.
Sexuality is obviously determined in the deveopmental stages of the offspring.

There is no such thing as gay people, but people who choose to engage in sexual acts with the same sex. I don't think there is such a historical record as to who was the first gay so we should not be overly bothered by this. The fact is that this is a sin before the eyes of God, and is also morally wrong according to the conscience that we have. People who have chosen the path of sin can always choose otherwise.

Its not a question of who was the first gay? Why does it have to be a HE! It starts from childhood growing up, being aware of changes i guess. And its not a gamble...its society...and it will always be society. I have nothing against gay ppl its the life they choose..and so be it.

It goes way back to Sodom and Gomorrah. They were doing all kinds of things that God did not appreciate, including homosexuality. It's nothing new.
