First of all, if something were to happen to your marriage, you can always request to keep your married name. It would be the easiest and cheapest way. In my divorce, my ex-husband didn't have a problem with me keeping his last name partially because of our children and partially because he knew my dysfunctional family history and knew how I didn't associate with them.
Second, if something did happen to your marriage and your now husband didn't want you to keep his last name and it was so decreed in the divorce, you can file a legal name change petition with the courts. It's kind of a lengthy process actually, but easy. You would have to talk it over with an attorney to find out costs and etc. However, it is possible.

Duh are you just a moron or are letting everyone know now?
You are not born married for one, number two that is the name of your father and your maidan name. I'm quite positive that you can never change the name that is on your birth certificate because that is the name given to you when you are born by your parents. Next thing can you think of somehting more disrespectful to your mother and father then changing your Birth Certificate. You may have a legal name change done through court but your birth cerificate will always remain unchanged. Change you main ID how often is your Birth certificate used anyways? Grow-up, wake-up, and smarten up. NO process!

Well you'd have to get your husband to adopt you and well that'd cause all kinds of problems :-)....You don't normally change your birth certificate....just social security card, drivers license etc.....basically anything else that has your name on it...just not the birth certificate.
By the way even when you have a legal reason to change the name on there (such as with an adoption) alot of times they will give you a hard time about it. It took 3 times going in to get my son's name changed on his even with a court order and I had to get a judge to call them and give them grief about it. It's not something that you are expected to change and they won't change it just because you want it done.
You don't have to use your maiden name for anything if you don't like it. My maiden name was dropped instead of my middle name when I got married (though that was a mistake by the social security office)

I don't think that's possible b/c like some have said you were not born with that name they're not going to change a birth certificate just b/c you got married. SS card maybe, license yeah, birth certificate I highly doubt it.

A birth certificate is a record of your birth just like your marriage certificate is a record of your marriage. Neither of the documents can be changed once the event takes place.

Are you an idiot? Were you born married? No you can't change your birth certificate. And think about it. If your marriage doesn't work out after five, ten or so years, do you really want to be stuck with your ex husbands name?

No you can't because you weren't born with your married last name. You are not your inlaws birth child you are the birth child of YOUR parents. You can change all of your legal documents (ss, driver's license, tax documents, insurances etc) But you were born as whatever last name your parents had that that will never change.

My mother remarried after I was born, and successfully changed my name on my birth certificate, although I think it was not easy for her to accomplish this. I do not appreciate that my mother did this, and I think you should also re-think it. You were born who you were born, and now you're married; what's wrong with that? It is reality. Why do u want to get rid of all traces of who you were?? I think it is kind of wierd, kind of like lying to yourself, do you know what I mean? (Not trying to be mean, but it is never good to run from reality...)

I don't believe that that is possible unless you go thru the courts. You will need an attorney for that, but I suggest you to think very hard about it. Were it my child, I would think of it as a slap in the face to not want my last name....
