All routers work, Belkin, Linksys, and Netgear. I have a Belkin now but Linksys earlier.
Buy a USB wifi card. You really don't need to cable a computer to a router, but it is not as fast as a cable.
I use a USB Netgear device for one of my computers, an old one without a PCI card slot.

Okay given ur situation, i would go with a USB wireless card and itll access the WIFI via USB port and then a Linksys router, i prefer it by a mile over netgear, and set up the wireless which i assume you know how and yeah its all good from there.

You just connect the wireless router (Netgear or Linksys, but i prefer Neatgear) from the cable, and you would get a wifi connection. But your pc should have a wifi card in order to connect to the wifi network you made..

Hope it helps & good luck,
