i have the ability and patience to wash, polish and wax cars as well as clean it from the inside, but the problem is im not perfect for example if a customer would give me a car with a scratch in it or swirl marks i will probably not be able to fix that but i can make the car much cleaner and a hell of a lot more shiney than they gave it to me. also i will not be able to clean the engine because i am afraid of messing anything up. all these things besides the fact that im a teen are keeping me from starting a small car detailing business, so i was wandering what do you think should i, should i not? oh and btw if i were to start one i was thinking of charging only $30 per car due to the fact that im not as good as the pro's which charge any where from 100-500.

Andrew i started a detailing business in Louisiana about ten years ago and didn't know all the tricks but i did a good job and word of mouth traveled the next thing you knew i was detailing limos only and charging $275.00 a pop to wash wax vac and armor all. within a tear i had professional upholstery cleaner and my prices went up and i hired four teens and branched out to service the people who didn't have time to get these things done i went from company to company and offered my services and raked in the money all i had to do was set firm dates to be there and the customers just added up. its a good first business to get into and if you play your cards right you can make allot of money. good luck and don't give up.you will never know if you don't try.

Detail a car for $30???????????
You won't be in business very long.
You are charging way too much for a car wash and not enough to do a detail. Besides that you don't have the equipment either.

The best way to get started is to get a job a car dealer doing new car clean-up, After that move up to used car clean-up. That way you can be paid to learn the business. I did that while I was in the Navy for a while. Had to quit when the ship pulled out. You can pick up the training and the cash. Good luck.

Most places that need car detailers are car lots and they want the engines done also this is part of detailing. You are talking about wash and wax, if you do a good job you may do well but it has a lot to do with word of mouth and if they can get it cheaper.

hi, i would go to a detailing place and observe how they do things that you like to do and what tools they use. also, go to your local car paint store and they will be happy to offer you products that will help you do a good job. and those products have instructions to follow. from there, hope you get to decide what and how much you need to start a business. good luck.
