Rent a hot tub. We did for a summer (got a great deal from a local place that was remodeling but I dont know how much they are regularly). It was best in the Spring and Fall...even a few days in winter but not so much in the hot summer evenings.
My other suggestion is to hire a sitter even though you are all home or hire a sitter to go with you on vacation or shopping. The extra set of hands are great....and you can have some cheap alone time with your husband knowing the kids are safe and entertained.
PS... Kids dont like to relax.. for them thats nap time and thats awful....if you really want time to relax....you will have to spend the day at an amusement park or other event to tire them out first!! lol

I would say run away run away.. No just kidding, I would run a hot bath, light some candles, lock the doors and forget they are in the house.. put headphones on to some of your favorite music.. and as a women you can stay in the bathroom forever, so while in there do the always needed face mask, tweeze your eyebrows, paint your toes.. and just think of it as your day at the spa.. but be forewarned that as soon as you shut the door that the kids or your husband are going to have to go to the bathroom.. so sit them a bucket out there and tell them go now or pee in the bucket later... lol.. good luck and hope you get the answer you are looking for

If you're talking about with them then go on a picnic. Take a ball or frisbee and just play. It's amazing how much better you feel when you actually are just playing with the kids instead of having to get on them about cleaning their room or doing homework and it's easier to do that when you are away from the house (it is for me anyway!)
If you mean how can you relax when you have 3 kids and a husband well that's not as easy! lol I usually get one of the grandparents to babysit and spend time with my husband. Of course during that time we usually take a couple of hours to just do whatever we want by ourselves...anything is less stressful when the kids are out of your hair!

Go with friends on a weekend adventure....I'm going to Foxwoods in a few weeks with the girls and can't wait! We are getting facials and manicures and playing the slots and having a ball!
But on a daily basis....hubby works 2nd shift now so when I put the kids to bed I soak my feet and read or just sit on the couch in complete silence and just the light of the candle. sometimes I play a cd of relaxation music or sounds. Its very relaxing and helps me connect with my home and family. I also have a neck massaging pillow that I wrap around my neck/shoulders to ease the tension. Or one of those rice filled things you can get at the mall--just heat it in the microwave and it releases the tension.
When hubby worked days, I didn't get any relax time....he always has tv going and most nights it winds me up and then I can't sleep. Between his snoring and my being wound up I never got any relaxation or sleep. So I am really enjoying this time.

I have 4 kids and a husband. I hear ya....lol
My suggestions:
Relax with them. Hiking, park, backyard, movie night, game night, be goofy with them, read stories to each other, fingerpaint
Relax with HIM...babysitter, camp grandma...fun night out, make a spagetti picnic on the living room floor(don't forget the wine) have naked night, do everything naked...
Relax alone, go to the gym, go to a movie, read, put on headphones and clean the house, bubble bath, sit outside and watch the stars (I do this on the kids trampoline--take hubby out there one night..I suggest a blanket....)remember old hobbies, take an hour after the kids go to bed and do anything you want! Night out with the girls.....
The best suggestion I can make is a gratitude journal. Look around you, be thankful for your life. It really makes a diff...
Good luck! Relax a little! ;)

i have taken up jogging. I am not really good at it, I do not go fast or far, but I get out of the house in the fresh air, and nobody is allowed to come with me, so I can listen to my music or load a book on tape into the MP3 player, and just unwind away from the demands of the kids (I have 4 from ages 2-10) as an added benefit, i look and feel better than i have in years.
