I attend the University of Alabama, which is kind of in the western part of the state. My school allows either in-state or reduced tuition to ppl from certain counties in Mississippi, since they're close. I'm from Southeastern Alabama. I was going to go to a university in the western part of Florida. For ppl who lived in certain counties in Alabama (within a 50 mile radius of the Alabama-Florida line) they offered a reduced tuition rate for us. So we wouldn't necessarily get the same rate as if we were living in Florida, but we still wouldn't have to pay the same out-of-state tuition rate as others. I would think other schools do this too. You just have to ask. Hope this helps!

California does it if you live in California for 1 year, so you'll only pay 1 year out-of-state tuition.
