I've always thought that "Stygimoloch" was an odd name... Its a dinosaur and the name basically means "Horned Demon from the River of Death".

I've always thought that the name 'flying lemur', which is one of the common names of the colugo was pretty weird.
It doesn't really sound that strange on the surface, but when you think about the fact that it doesn't actually fly (it glides, using membranous patagia between its legs, like a sugarglider or 'flying' squirrel), and it is not closely related to lemurs at all, the name really doesn't make sense.
It would be better to call it the non-flying non-lemur.

I like Draculatus toothus. It's a wierd looking octopus that lives about 2 miles down. They just discovered them last year and they do look like they have teeth all over their tentacles.
