If there's an AutoZone around you, you can go there, and they will hook up a diagnostic scanner for your check engine light, and be able to tell you what all is wrong with your car. Ask one of the counter guys, aka Parts Sales Managers, to check out your check engine light, and what could be going on. They are the ones in the gray shirts. Usually, they have had some kind of experience working on and repairing vehicles. Good Luck!

first off you should probably take it to someone who can look at it and who knows what they are looking at but your check engine light could be your oxygen sensor they are very high failure and this will also give you less gas mileage if you need a new one you may also want to look at your belts if there is a burnt rubber smell and possibly your hoses i'm assuming that what your smelling isn't you burning up the clutch but if you can't drive a stick well you may be burning your clutch that would also explain the smell and possibly shaking

Go to Autozone and get a free read of your error codes. They will help you all they can so they can sell you the part.
