you need to know two things in order for you to be better assisted.
1) what is your protocol?(PPPoE or DHCP?) this is usually provided by your ISP.
2)what is the make and model of the DSL modem that your are using?

commonly, you need to manually set your modem to bridge mode, and then connect your Linksys router to your computer using the ethernet cable (rj45). you must do this first before setting up your wireless connection.

When that has been done already, depending on your protocol, youe must access your router's configuration page by pulling up an internet browser(IE,firefox) and then type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar then press enter.

you will get a pop -up box which asks for username and password( so , disable your popup blocker first)

just leave the username field blank and type [admin] all lowercase in the password field, hit ok and then you will get to the router config page.

if you already have the protocol and the make and model of the modem that you use, just email me.. feeding.maggot@yahoo.com

Forget about the router for now.... whether it's a desktop or laptop.... and you have roadrunner - bypass the router for a direct connection first. Depending on your provider, you should get a CD for installing.... The last computer I did actually had a wireless USB NIC card instead of a NIC internal card.... and software had to be installed from Time Warner.

Just remember to forget about the router until you get on-line. Only after you know you accessed the internet should you then attach your router. (Typically from the wall into the router - then another cord from the router to the computer - if it's being hard-wired).

You should get a pretty automatic connection.

Not enough information. You probably need to reinstall the router according to the strict instruction that came on the install CD. The router has to know who your internet provider is.

If your Router is wireless and you have a wiereless card, simply install the wireless card and follow the setup instrutions. If it's a laptop with a wireless card built in, go to internet wizard and follow the instructions.
