If you interpretted this from an Adlerian perspective, your dreams not finishing may be the manifestation of a "hesitation distance strategy", which by definition represents the failure to finish things. Do you generally not finish things? If so it may be a coping strategy for your sense of inferiority (which is normal according to Adler). From this viewpoint, you would have to work though your feelings of inferiority in order to decrease your tendency to finish your dreams more often. This is just one way this could be interpreted though, I am sure others will have some interesting thoughts as well. A more psychoanalytic (e.g., Freud or Jung) perspective would probably be more concerned with the content of the dreams that are unfinished

I KNOW THE ANSWER!!!!
it has been said that when you wake up and you do not remember your dream, then that means that it finished, and they say that you only remember dreams that weren't finished...
there are things you can do to have the same dream again though, some spiritual people will keep a pen and a pad of paper by their bed, that way, they can write the dream down so they have it remembered and fall back asleep and get the same dream OR read it the next day before you fall asleepand have it again.
ps:weird facts is, you dream because of rapid eye movements when you system shuts down...
you are only completely asleep for about 15 minutes
each dream you have lasts only around 3 minutes.

Don't worry, I wouldn't really say you have a mental problem. What you might want to do is stop eating or drinking things which might hinder your mental imagination or thought process (in case you have trouble completing your thoughts when writing/talking/etc.). Foods like pork rines, fish high in mercury, etc. Drinks like alcohol or too much soda. I know this is hard to accept but try eating more vegetables too.
In case you are already doing all this or feel it really isn't what you think is affecting you (remember you know yourself the best) then maybe it just is a natural thing. This happens with me a lot when I'm with a friend who I haven't seen in more than 5 years) or someone who I've been thinking about calling for a while, etc... and basically what happens is that I want to talk to them really badly or stay with them for a long time, and in the end, they leave all of a sudden, and I have a sense of loneliness or loss in the end.
Busy you're mind, try not to worry about it.
Good luck, and hope this helps!

It probably has todo with waking up at the wrong time. I know that you can train your brain to go back to sleep and resume a dream because I do that. Just relax and try to float back to the dream. This technique is easier to master for a dream that is not frightening and one that will have a positive outcome. Also, any writer will tell you that the ending of a story is the hardest part to write. Haven't you ever noticed that sometimes they just don't know how to end a movie? Why should you be any different?-lol anyway, just teasing here - but try my technique it works for me. -k-

A dream always stops right before you wake up. When you go back to sleep again - then you dream about something completely different.

Most people's dreams are like that, I think. At least, mine are, and I have heard people say the same thing over and over. So don't worry about having a mental problem.
