And seriously feel like they are trapped inside a meaningless relationship?
I am single and I cannot even stand to be around the same girl all the time, no matter who it is!
I think what happens is you eliminate your inner person when getting involved in a relationship with someone, it is like you have now been assigned a role to play the rest of your life and your true self dies.

COULD YOU ALSO TELL ME IF YOU ARE SINGLE, MARRIED, OR BEEN MARRIED?
WHAT IS IT REALLY LIKE TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP LIKE THAT FOR SO LONG?

No, that is not the way marriage is at all. I guess you just haven't been lucky enough to find the right person yet.
Your true self does not die, with the right person, and by that I mean someone who is in tune with you mentally, physically, and spiritually, your true self continues to grow. Year after year is like going through grades in school. Every year is more learning experiences, more growth, and more of a bond with the perfect person.
I hope you eventually start to feel differently, everyone should experience unconditional love that comes with marriage and family, and noone should grow old alone.
Okay, i'm updating my answer for you...I am married, and have been for 17 years. It is wonderful being in a relationship this long. There are no headgames to deal with anymore, I know I can can home after a rotten day to someone who truely cares and wants to make it better, and I face nothing in life alone, good or bad.

Funny that I read this today. I am married and have been since I was 15 years old, it has been 34 years now. This past week has been a take a look at your life week? I have looked closely and wondered when I ceased to exist and this person that I am now came into being. I am a woman most miserable and trying to look within for my answers. I do believe that somewhere their is that person who you are destined to be with. And when you find that person, they will only make you feel complete in each other. I have to believe that is true. Just don't settle for less. Or in years to come you will be in the same place as myself. I am bound to another out of duty and loyalty and trying to decide if will stay or go.

I've been married nearly 9 years, and I don't feel that happy. I rushed in to marriage and thought it was what I wanted. My husband is my best friend, but there's nothing else there. I did think this is how marriage goes once you've had kids and that, but now I'm not too sure(?)
I also feel that if I split from this marriage then start seeing someone else, what's gonna say it ends up the same way a few years down the line?
I think everyone tires of everybody, it just depends how willing you are to make things work I guess.

As it was once stated in "Shall We Dance" .....I believe we marry so we can have a witness to our own lives to show we truly do exist. That is why 1/2 of the married population marrys. The other 1/2 marries because they just get along like best friends. Kinda like when you were a young kid and had that playmate that you could just be yourself around and have fun with. This should be the real reason to marry. To love them like your best friend. You shouldn't feel obligated or feel like role playing. You should compliment each other nicely if you work together like friends.
I'm married for 8 yrs tomorrow.

Been married over 22 years and loving every minute of it. Love and life together just seems to be getting better and better.
Before I met this man, the guys I dated made me physically ill. I would get nauseous being around them. I took this as a sign to get the hell out of that relationship and then I met this man that is a dream come true.

I'm very happily married. When you share a healthy relationship with someone you don't lose your true self. Instead, that person you love is the one you share your true self with throughout your lifetime. I have never grown tired of my dh. He is my bestfriend and I'd rather spend time with him than anyone else, ever.

if you love someone you don't see their bad points and you know its something you want when the right person comes along, I was married for 30 years before he left for a young tart.
