there is no stipulation regarding being married or single when running for president. It is more an issue that the major religious and political groups groups feel it would make a candidate unelectable.

I think its because it gives the general public the perception that because a candidate is a married person may be more settled and mature enough for the job.
But I would vote for a single person if I thought they were the right person for the job. If John Edwards gets elected.....we may end up with a single person as president.

There have been some single POTUSs (see other posts) but it seems like in the past 50 years or so, we want our POTUS to fit a mold.....Daddy-Mommy-kids. I think it's conformity, and discrimination against single people.
I would absolutely vote for a single person. One could argue that a single POTUS would have more time and energy to devote to the job. I think that spouses and children of married POTUSs tend to suffer from the stresses of having a famous husband/father.

There is nothing that says that a single person cannot be President. In fact, we have had one President who never did marry (James Buchanan, 15th President). His niece, Harriet Lane, served in the role of First Lady during his Presidency.
A candidate's marital status would have absolutely no effect on my vote whatsoever.

There are 3 solutions to this question: one million. To do with the maids being desirable surpassed 2. To do with military purposes 3. style that's purely for the previous couple of centuries that buttons have been used and have been initially so high priced that purely wealthy human beings would desire to attend to to pay for them. the army chanced on it much less annoying to mass produce uniforms with buttons on the main appropriate yet trouble-free women persons and adult men did not start up utilising them till extra presently, in line with laced products particularly. Aristocratic women persons chosen to be diverse to adult men and etiquette reported that the lady would desire to be to the left of the guy with neither being able to check out the hollow left between the buttons of their outfits. The custom has stayed a similar and there is not any reason this is going to not replace now, so the respond is that it grew to become into the aristocratic females that chosen which area their buttons went and not something to do with adult men.

Absolutely, if they were the person best suited for the job.
And, although it's been a while, we have elected presidents who were single.
Presidents who were bachelors (unmarried, single) during all or part of their terms in office.
Single during entire term: Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, James Buchanan, Chester A. Arthur. All but Buchanan were widowers.
Single during part of their terms: John Tyler, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, Woodrow Wilson. Tyler and Wilson lost their wives and remarried while in office. Harrison lost his wife but did not remarry while in office. Cleveland married for the first time in office.

James Buchanan - single president.
If you're referring to modern times, it seems most presidential candidates are married - some a few times.
I believe a single candidate would not be hindered by his or her marital status if they have what it takes to run a successful campaign.
