There is no way they (the government) would ever lower the drinking age.

It's not primarily a federal issue. Drinking ages are determined at the state level.

However, Congress does bribe the states to set certain limits. For example, Congress will give states money to maintain roads and highways, but only if the state makes the drinking age at least 21. So, it's up to the state -- get the money and set the age at 21, or reject the money and do whatever it wants.

Kknights ... I think you'll find that's a state-level issue. In other words, drinking age laws are addressed by state legislative processes, not at the federal level. The Feds get involved in matters of interstate commerce/distribution of alcohol and any federal taxes that may be assessed.

i don't know, but the drinking age should not be lowered. I wouldn't even be opposed to raising it. There are a lot of 21 yr olds who are mature, but more than half are not mature enough to stay out of trouble when drunk. Even younger than that, most teens are out of control when drunk. They don't care about going over the limit. Anyway sorry for rambling.

Believe it or not...The Department of Transportation...

They Blackmailed the states to raise it to 21...if they didnt..they lost funds....
