They both had certain qualities that I liked on each Star Trek show. Kirk was commanding but soft hearted at times and was very ethical and somewhat quirky. But when I look back to the old shows, he now appears a bit "cheesy" and over the top.
Picard had the same good qualities as well but just a little different way of showing them and in a more updated type of performance.
But both were just as good in their roles as captain given the time period in which each show was made.

DEFINITELY PICARD much deeper in brain and in voice than Kirk Also Kirk was ALWAYS way too predictable=boring!
