when you click on the videodownloader icon a box will pop up. right click on the download link and 'save link as', you'll see the file name as 'get_video', add (.flv) to it, at 'save as type' select 'all files'.
thats it, hope this helps.

Assuming you're using some flavour of Windows (Sorry Mac/Linux users!)...

I tried Videodownloader for a while, but it doesn't always work. I found it easier to keep my eye on the cache directory, and then grab the file directly from there once it's finished downloading.

As for the actual file that you end up with, it should be an FLV format video, regardless of whether or not it has a three letter filename extension. Changing the extension won't change this. There are some video conversion programs that can turn FLV into other formats (SUPER does this, but it's not always perfect), but unless I want to put the video on my mobile 'phone, I just watch it with FLVPlayer, which is a pretty decent little program.

Once you get FLVPlayer, don't forget that you'll need to manually associate FLV files with it; the easiest way to do that is to right-click on an FLV file, select "Open with - Choose Program", then look for FLVPlayer in the list, or if you can't find it on the list, click the "Other" button and find wherever you installed FLVPlayer.

I use Firefox v 2.0.0.3
In this version no download or extension is required.YTube video loads normally.
U can't save it on video format(I may not be knowing). But u can copy & past the url on right top box in another tab & add to favorites alternately click on 'save to favorites' below the video screen.
Please check the version of Firefox & fix ur problem.

go into the folder you have all your videos downloaded at
right click on the video/file - click on Rename
- next at the end of the name add .flv
example:
Heart - Alone.flv
once that's done
open the file in the flash player and check it out

you might have to go through all the videos you downloaded from youtube and add that file extension to them
