My son scribbled pen all over the back of my Odyssey seat and now I can't seem to get the ink off. Any ideas?

It is true that hair spray dissolves ball point ink.
You have to use a 'spray & blot' technique.
Buy a cheap bottle ( pump type) of any hair spray & a roll of paper towels.
You have to keep spraying & blotting, but be careful to turn the paper towel each time that you blot. Otherwise you will be re-applying the ink that you just blotted up.
{{{This also works for ink on ANY other surface or fabric}}}

Once you have disolved & blotted all the ink, you'll have to clean the area with a leather cleaner to remove all the residual ink & hairspray.

It is a tedious job but maybe your son could help...LOL !

90% of ink marks left on leather seats (depending on make and model of car- this is important) cannot be removed. The seat would need to be dyed. If they don't come off right away by soap and water, or greased lightning, they are there permanently. A good interior reconditioner can use a specialized cleaner- one not available to the general public- or dye them out. Call a local dealership and ask the service department who handles their interior repairs. They are usually more then happy to give you a number or make an appointment for you to come in and have it done. A trim shop- reuphostery shop- can usually give you a number too. If you take it to the dealership and have them handle it, there will be an upcharge- usually 25% above what the technician will charge them to do it. In NC, to dye a seat (single seat) costs approx. 60 - 100 dollars.

What worked for us:

First we wiped with used acetone. It took off some of the ink. It dulled the finish of the leather so we used leather cleaner on it next. The leather cleaner made it look like new.

Next, Mr. Clean magic eraser. (Had our 5-year old help) followed with leather cleaner. This worked. The wife recommends trying the leather cleaner first and skipping the acetone step.

It could be worse. We have twins.

Im not sure exactly who makes it but i think its called saddle soap. They make cleaners and preservers for leather goods like saddles. I used to use it on my horse saddles to clean them. not sure if it takes off ink but it works for everything i have ever tried to clean off. just make sure you test on a small spot first because like all cleaners it can sometimes take out the color of the leather

Try cheap hairspray. That's worked on getting ball point and permanent marker off leather for me in the past. Good luck!

Regular rubbing alcohol, hairspray, or nail polish remover works good sometimes but also sometimes fades the color if you're not careful... It just depends... but try it on a small spot where it'll be less noticeable if you try one of those...

I have the same problem right now! I tried Murphy's oil soap..no luck. I am thinking nail polish remover should do it.
Good Luck
