There's a broad range of possibilities. I have, in the course of my career, worked in offices, taught English as a Second Language, renovated apartments, and worked as a waiter. Several of my friends have skills such as graphic design and proofreading which serve them well. The thing to look for is something that you can jump in and out of, and still make a decent buck.

Currently, when I'm between jobs I teach an acting workshop, which keeps the wolf from the door and allows me to stay in the world of acting. I must admit that I also enjoy the work enormously, and that I am constantly learning from my students.

There is an organization called "The Actors Fund" which sponsors "The Actors Work Program." They are very helpful and I'd encourage you to look into what they may have to offer.

Some artists already work in the Art & Business field. Use acting as a means to communicate to colleagues or to learn new ways to lead your teams. You can do this by offering workshops. There are a lot of books available about this field. A lot of research has been conducted too.

Hope that helps.
Cheers, Steffen

My aunt did a lot of temp work when she was pursuing her acting career. She could accept jobs when she wanted and could reject jobs if she needed to go on a casting call. SIgn up with a temp agency wherever you live.

Of course, waiting on tables. But if you have some abilities, think about doing carpentry, house painting, gardening in season, perhaps babysitting, house sitting, and so on.
