Getting good grades. Any major in the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, etc) will put him in line for the vet school. An animal science major would definitely make him more competitive. If his grades sucked in college, he'll need to do heavy work after college to make up for it. Even then it may not be good enough to get him into vet school.

The best way to go about this is to send him to a European University to get his vet degree in only 4 years. I'm extremely serious about this. It will be much cheaper in the long run because in the US it takes over 8 years total to become a vet. He can do 2 years in a community college and then transfer to a European University. He'll probably have to do 3 years, but it'll save you a year of cash.

I think he should start at a community college get his basics out of the way. Its cheaper to so if he decides to go a diffrent route then you or him hasn't spent alot of money. Then if he finds that he likes school and wants to continue he can transfer to a university.
