Often, the drive opens on its own, without having to press the button (although never when a disc is in it). At first I thought it was because I might have put pressure on it, and it just popped open because some clasp released.

However, it is very finnicky with DVD's. They tend to overheat after 45 minutes, and it will stop reading the disc. It will cause my computer to stall, and then I will press the button, but the drive will not open. Usually restarting fixed the problem. Then it started not opening at random times, when it hadn't just been reading a DVD.

Then it stopped reading some of my audio CD's, and now it won't read DVD's or audio CD's without skipping (I tried it on a brand new CD that had no scratches, and it still skipped).

I was just wondering if anybody knew how to fix this, or if anybody else has had similar issues?

Hi. First make sure your case is not too hot by checking the fans and vents. Second make sure you have the latest drivers from the drive manufacture. Third try one of the lens cleaner CDs. Last consider replacement.

i might have gently tapped my horn such as you probably did, yet after she drove off i might have stopped being concerned, with the help of the time I have been given the place i grew to become into going i might have maximum possibly forgotten with regard to the excellent element. And if it grew to become obtainable grew to become right into a pedestrian crossing, i might have positioned on my "oh sh*t, i did no longer propose to honk, i'm sorry I did" face. If she nonetheless did no longer flow, then i might have hit my horn, much less courteously, and persevered much less and much less courteously till she finally did flow. yet on your case she did flow. you're curious how others might react and what others might have achieved? that's what i might have achieved.
