oh. Galileo (inventor of the first useful telescope) found some of Jupiter's moons. He also found that the moon isn't a flawless, smooth orb. And much more, though i can't think of any others at the moment... =]

There are quite a lot, here are just some I'm thinking of right off the bat:

Discovery of other solar systems and galaxies, black holes, quasars from radio telescopes, discovery of the expansion of the universe, the cosmic microwave background.....
