Im importing my cd's and i was wondering, can i import songs of a regular HMV bot CD in the format it came in to itunes ? I am using a PC (XP Home) and have no need to save HDD space. I also have an ipod and need to get the songs on there. Is there a plugin that will update itunes and my Ipod video 30gb 5.5 G ?

You can't. I mean, you could copy the files over, but iTunes won't even let you import them into your music library, and the iPod firmware won't be able to play them either.

If you're not concerned about saving space on your hard-drive, just import them in Apple Lossless format. To do this, pull down the Edit menu, select Preferences, then the Advanced tab, then the Importing tab, and change the "Import Using" field to "Apple Lossless format". This format is supposed to reduce the file-size by about 50% without losing any of the original sound quality. It'll probably significantly reduce the playback time on any hard-drive based iPod, as it'll have to be reading several times as much data from the drive as it would if you were importing to 128kbps AAC. I suspect it might even reduce the playback time on a Shuffle or Nano, but not nearly to the same extent as neither of them have internal moving parts.

everyday iTunes downloads use lossy compression so the known would be below the uncompressed CD audio records. in case you utilize a lossless codec while ripping a CD into iTunes then you definitely can get an identical high quality yet a lossy codec will cut back high quality (because of the fact lossy compression is composed of throwing information away to cut back record length). nevertheless in case you utilize a extreme sufficient bit cost you in all possibility won't be conscious the version (in case you're listening to it from a playback gadget with marginal audio high quality like maximum transportable gamers you in all possibility won't be conscious any distinction between a CD rip with lossless encoding, a lossy compressed DRMed record or a pirated MP3 you obtain off a P2P device).
