I think that there are two types of popular
A: the stero typical b**** cheerleader, prep, clique, dating football captain, really pretty, great fashion, abercrombiex10, slut, makes fun of people-you get it?
B: nice, sweet, lots of friends, in style, sets trends, friends with everyone, sticks up for people, good standards(men wise), pretty, good grades, you know, like a good roll model

Popular is anyone with a lot of friends. You don't have to be the one in school that everybody knows to be considered popular. If you have a large group of friends or even a small group of friends you are popular to them. They look up to you and will come to you for advice.
But what your cousin is probably talking about is the popular that is saying. I get invited to all the parties, everybody knows my name and everybodys wants to be me.
Hope I helped.

most people know you in that area... be it campus or department.
Its effect might be positive if you use it properly.-hehehe
if you get over confident because you are popular... famous.. OH NO! another Britney Spears :)
Anyway ... dont let popularity change inner goodness. (still God is higher than anyone). enjoy its effect on you but still continue to improve yourself and treat others well.
Angelina Jolie is popular :) she's matured... she does good things wherein she know many will notice since she is popular. She makes use of her popularity in a nice way... she uses her popularity to encourage everyone to do good htings for humanity. she've change for the better... she adopts... she loves... she smiles... she radiates.
BE popular and fun! :)
