If you open a checking account, you will start your credit. I believe, at some credit unions, you have to be 16 years old to open a checking account, and your journey with the wonderful world of credit will begin. Good Luck, and use credit wisely!

I would say at least 18, but age is not the real issue. You have to have a job and you should have a couple of years on your job as well. You could always start with a secured credit card. Google secured credit card and see what the requirements are.
