I read this book about evolution that claimed that everything that happened in our bodies was the result of millions of years of evolution. They gave very good examples through near-sightedness, diabetes, depression, and many others. I highly recommend the book. It's called "Why We Get Sick"

Why We Get Sick is an awesome book, and it emphasizes that evolution doesn't make us "pefect", it just works with what it can. Also there are fitness balances--probably the secretions that our skin has to keep itself from getting all dry and cracked also have the risk of getting infected, causing acne. It's all about the trade-offs.

There is no "purpose" to acne. It's caused by bacteria. Bacteria evolve along with all other living things. As a general rule, they get into our bodies and make us sick, then we eventually develop ways to kill them or at least get less sick. It's an ongoing contest.

Because some disorders are linked to a better chance of survival and reproductive success--sickle cell anemia is the best example--doesn't mean that everything that goes wrong has some deeper evolutionary significance.

(If you have one gene for sickle cell anemia, you are more effective at fighting off malaria; if you have two genes you can't survive without medical intervention, which of course was not possible until very recently.)

there is not any such element as an "evolutionary purpose". Evolution isn't a timed time table the place each and every thing falls intricately into place, sh*t purely occurs via twist of fate that impacts the over all inhabitants. EDIT: Jeez, y'all do not even understand the basics of evolution. %. up a Biology e book or some thing.

in my opinion it might be to rid our body of deadly toxins that are deadly if they build up so maybe through that irritation we scarth it pop it or cream it away and get rid of that build up of toxins but that just my opinion
