Chappell will be given the boot. Dravid, he should retire. So should a fair few others. Time for a change of culture within the team, I'm afraid.

First of all there is no BILLION as all Indians do not watch cricket even if many do. A significant percentage of the Indian population do not have 3 meals a day so cricket is the last thing for about 400 million Indians. When fans have unreal expectations away from reality, disappointments will be there.
The Indian cricket team was never the best one day team in the world and Australia, New Zealand, South Africa & England are better one day teams. The Indian cricket system is a joke. It relys on quotas, regional biases, poor infrastructure at junior levels, illiterate coaches and selectors at all levels etc.
The BCCI is rich because India has a large number of people carzy about cricket without understanding the sport. What the average Indian cricket loves is the glamour of the Indian player and personalities. It is misguided hero worship as for any celluloid stars. So it is a poor state of affairs and Indian cricket will go downhill because nobody wants to handle the truth and the officials want to remain in power.
Greg Chappell is the best coach in world cricket today and India does not deserve an honest man like him who is also a fountain of knowledge. But no coach can do anything if the players are not up to scratch. And the captain and the coach stepping down will only result from knee jerk reaction.
Face it Sri Lanka are a much better side and they beat us. But the real loss was against Bangladesh where the batsmen played like amatuers. So the truth is that Sachin, Rahul, Sourav or Dhoni etc. are not the best in the world. They maybe the best in India at the most and that does not mean anything as the standard of domestic cricket in India is poor.
Cricket is just a game and the sooner fans realise this and learn to love the game more than some stupid nationalistic sentiment, the better it will be.

Umm Chappell has to step down fsho and Dravid should too but I don't think Dravid should be kicked off the team. Some people are just not meant to lead but he is a good player and I think we should keep him. Bring in some former Indian greats as the coaches as they can relate to what the players are going through...Robin Singh or Kapil Dev or Srinath.
I think from now on India will be looked down on by other countries = (

By Dravid and Chappel stepping down, Indian cricket is not going to improve. The only way I find for the improvement is to make all the players accountable for their poor performance and make the payment to players based on their performance instead of experience. Further the players who fail consistently should be dropped from the team and talented youngsters should be given opportunities.

Maybe, they both should continue for a little while more, sothat the lessons they have learnt are useful to the team, whether it's in selection or strategy or motivation! Dravid certainly seems to be an ok guy! As for Indian coach, treat the matter on merits!
