like for example i go to a prodominatly black school and alot of them think that since im black, i should date in my race, listen 2 hip-hop and rap, be into all of those music vids, and etc. but im the opposite of that, i listen 2 j-rock, classical, some rap, and rock, and i also find asians, and some other races very attractive but when people at my school overhear this, they get mad at me and say, " why do u like this stuff, ?" or " you should fin you a good black man, and u should listen to rap instead of this japanese junk." why are they like this??

They're just jealous that you have a mind of your own and are not a part of the herd mentality. Quite a few kids at my HS were like that. Also it's different so it scares them, most people are frightened of things that are different or that they don't understand. Just keep doing what you like, within limits, and pay them no mind. your true friends will understand that you are your own person with your own likes and dislikes and will respect you for that. You have no need to listen to the ignorant masses of children.... and yes I do mean children, they will be children until they are mature enough to understand that the color of your skin and where you live don't dictate what you like in music... or anything else for that matter. And they shouldn't get mad at you for thinking for yourself, ignore them and surround yourself with people who understand you... even if it's only one person.

I know what you mean. I was always the black girl that hung out with Asian & white guys. The black kids in my class HATED ME! They would always make rude remarks like "Why don't you go hang out with your WHITE friends." Soooo...I did! LOL I didn't even care what they said. They are my REAL friends, so they could go choke on it. I love rock, country, pop, alternative. Shoot! I was made fun of because I had every Nirvana CD/DVD set!

b/c they're hs school kids. that's all there is to say. most of them do whatever it takes to 'fit in'. since u look like them, they expect u to be a part of their group. but go head girls, do what ever U feel like doing. those who mind don't matter.
