moles does not mean molecules, it's not an abbreviation.

A mole is just a measurement unit: it's 6.02 x 10^23 of something. If you're wondering why they picked such a random number, largely because it brings units to convenient numbers (for example, a mole of a lot of things weighs somewhere between 0.1-1 pounds). So to find out how many moles you'd have, take the number of atoms and divide is by 6.02x10^23.
