Ladybugs are coming out of hibernation but they are not really pests. Now is the time of year to inspect your trees and bushes for eggs and larvae of the real pests. Check wound areas in trees for anything that looks like a colored mass, orange, red, brown etc. Look at the base of trees and on the limbs of trees and bushes for anything that resembles a clump. This will be the eggs or larvae of tree borers, maggots etc. This is also the time of year that the hibernating queens of wasp, hornet and yellow jackets will be emerging to find a mate and start a colony. Any of this variety that you see is apt to be the beginning of a nest.
